Our Psoriasis Journey with Philips: Update

14/9/2017

In case you were wondering about the psoriasis progress with Philips BlueControl - we're back with an update and more before and after pictures.

We're nearly 2 months into our trial with the Philips BlueControl device, and have noticed a significant, positive difference already. After using the device every single day, once a day on each plaque (15 minutes per plaque) the treated patches have become less red and angry looking, smoother, less scaly, and have a more even tone.
You can see the before, 2 weeks into treatment, and current images below, as a comparison for your reference.

From the images above, you can see how much of an improvement the Philips BlueControl has had on the treated areas. You may have noticed from the pictures there is tanning/hyperpigmentation around my plaques. This is temporary and, as it says on the instructions, might occur for some patients.
Now that the patches are smoother and less scaly, this has also improved the itchiness that we would sometimes experience beforehand, as the skin doesn't feel as tight and suffocated. There has also been a noticeable difference in the amount of shedding - before, after wearing black or darker coloured clothing, the patches would always leave a dandruff like residue where the patches touched the clothing. But now, this doesn't happen - meaning this has had a massive and positive affect mentally on our confidence.

It didn’t take long for us to remember to do the treatment and now it's become part of our everyday lives - I get up in the morning, strap the machine on, and use it whilst I'm applying my makeup. This makes it so easy to use and absolutely no hassle at all - in fact, most of the time I even forget I have it on until it beeps to tell me it's finished. After I take it off, I give it a quick wipe to keep it clean.

We're hoping that by continuing to use it over the course of the next month, there will be even more improvement to show you in the final blog post - I know my mum wishes for her treated areas to be completely gone by the time I write the next update on this. We're well aware that it requires patience, perseverance, and that there is no overnight cure or 'quick fix', however for the first time in many years, there is light at the end of the tunnel and we feel in control of our psoriasis.
